Very sad. Saw some of his recent interviews, and the despair and pain in his eyes was so hard to look at. He actually mentioned in one that he felt "death approaching". Chilling. Our hearts go out to his fans, friends and family.
Apparently Jeff suffered from severe chronic pain, and his addiction was to opiates that he was prescribed. He'd get clean, then the pain would become so severe that he'd be back at the doctor's office and out came the prescription pad. I can't even express my anger at how totally irresponsible those doctors were in prescribing opiates to a known addict.

beyond whatever the doctors may have done--I have no words for whatever is wrong with society that leads so many people to try to 'escape reality' in any way that they can.
'You can't legislate morality'---but thankfully there are those who can manage themselves. Some never achieve fame or wealth but live truly heroic lives in spite of 'limitations.'
I see that Jeff passed away while I was away on vacation. I hope he truly rests in peace now.
