BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., July 31 (UPI) -- The classic U.S. children's television "Mister Rogers Neighborhood" is getting a 21st Century overhaul, the Public Television System announced Sunday.

The "new animated multi-platform series" is called "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and will debut in Autumn 2012 with a 4-year-old Daniel Tiger in the lead role.

They should get Eddie Murphy to do "Mister Robinson's Neighborhood" again, now that's something today's kids might relate to more---"Hello boys and girls, we all alone today. You know why? Because my wife left me. I'm so glad the ***** is gone..."

Love Mr Rogers. The Nick Jr websites has a few old Mr Rogers videos and a related sink drain game. My grandson is almost 4 and loves it. It isn't so flashy, but it addresses kid fears that we often forget as we grow up (like being afraid we will go down the drain.).

I hope they do a good job with the remake and do justice to the original.

I hope the new one is as great as the old one. He really knew how to talk to the kids. While my kids are too old to watch it anymore, we sure watched it when they were little.

He wore the sweaters to cover up his Marine tattoos, thought it would scare kids.

Fred Rogers was one of a kind! Kind, compassionate, polite, friendly. He reinforced everything our parents and teachers were teaching us kids. Sadly, none of the good virtues are being taught much anymore and if they are, I think it bounces right off most kids' heads. Yamota's post is so typical of today's morals and ethics.

Frankly I always thought he was WEIRD.

He had freaky eyes.

He scared me as a kid so I never watched him, although I did watch him a few times as an adult but only when I was really stoned. THEN he was funny.

something tells me the new guy on this show will either end up being a pedo or a sex tape will surface.
