When you consider Britney, Madonna, JayLo , Rianna, Katie Perry, GaGa, Miley Cyrus, and all the rest of Celebrities we as consumers have made very wealthy ..... has it been at the expense of highly sexualizing our young girls and boys way ahead of their time in their innocense ?

How do you as a Parent share what your children witness on TV as far as the sexualized exploits these Performers so freely demonstrate ? Or do you even approach the subject and let them roll with the flow ?

Finally, are we as a society grooming our young children for future sexual hedonism / casual copulation hook ups / etc...void of any deep personal relationship with the opposite sex ?

Whats your thoughts on this prevalent issue ? Thanks.

As a 17 year old girl, I have never felt any type of way by these women. Well, some of them annoy me. I do like Madonna though. >_>

Personally, I think some kids might be influenced by the BS of celebrity culture, but what's worse is when their parents are too. If the masses would stop taking Britney, the Kardashians, or the latest spectacle of the moment seriously, then we wouldn't have to see them on our t.v. because no one would care (and the media puts up what we - as a society - WANT to see, or at least somebody does).

If kids grow up to be morally bankrupt then that primarily has to do with the parents failure in raising their kids - the media - in whatever form, should never have that much influence over children because parents should educate them to understand it's role in our world - it's a small role, for entertainment purposes, not to imitate or emulate in any way. If you do, then you have issues, get an identity of your own, kid.

I think most well adjusted kids though, give no real credit to celebrity culture. If they are going to be the types to be sexually loose they would have been anyway with or without the influence of the media.

Agree...except, our relentless mass media which children embrace as their prize entertainment source , increases and justifies (to their Minds) that illicit sexuality is something to be grasped and acted on. A Dictator from the 20th Century once said :" If you say something long enough, loud enough, and often enough...people will believe it as truth " .

I am not a parent, but hope to be by my 50's. The males do not have a biological clock so I am good. I can assure you that when I do have kids they will be sheltered from all this nonsense. There will be no TV in the home. If I have a daughter that ask about these broads I will explain that they are tramps.

Lady Gaga is a great role model, she stood up against DADT, she has collaborated with Clarence Clemmons, she even expanded and did a country song! If I had kids, I would point to her as a legit artist that is still mainstream!

How about male celebrities, especially athletes? Don't a lot of boys believe all they have to work on is sports? Sadly, some parents encourage it.

HAHAHA!

Good luck with that. They will soak plenty of it up from friends and life in general. You have no way to stop it. Forbidding it will only make them seek it more.

You have a LOT to learn about children.
