I know how this man felt but taking your own life is surely not the answer. If he was really harassed by the management then they should be held acountable. Does anyone know he lived in NYC ? What ashame.

This story just aggravates me. Apparently he lived in an apartment/condo where his pit bull was grandfathered in after a rule change that stated no pits allowed. Regardless, he was reportedly getting dirty looks from neighbors. So he puts down his perfectly healthy pet then kills himself. It's unfortunate b/c it sounds like he had other issues going on, but so many things about this story annoys me:

-buildings w/ breed specific rules/bans (pointless, IMHO, but that's another topic)
-the behavior of the neighbors who reportedly lied just to get the dog out
-the fact that, instead of standing his ground or moving out, he put his dog to sleep

It seems like everyone did some messed up things, including the actor.

Maybe he put the dog to sleep because his plan was to kill himself, and he had no other way to provide a home for the dog.
Sad all around, though.

Unhappy Soap actor 47 yrs old commits suicide after pup's 'forced' euthanasia.

Soap-opera actor Nick Santino committed suicide after beloved dog euthanized - NYPOST.com

How sad is this news.

I mean why can people just respect those who have pets.

Poor animal died for no good reason.

I mean I can totally understand why he killed himself, it was his best friend and died for no reason. I DO NOT recommend someone doing suicide, but I do understand why he did it.

I just don't understand why he didn't do something, like move or fought for the rights to have his pet living there. If he really cared about the dog, he would have chosen another option, than of putting it to sleep has he did.

I guess the death of his dog was the last straw... he must have had other issues to commit suicide...

That is so sad~ for some, leaving seems as though a better exit than staying ... Some people grow exhausted of simply existing and not living and don't know how, or where to even begin picking up the pieces- then you have people who say they care, but give terrible opinions/advice, "oh, it will get better, hang in there".

The dog was probably therapeutic for him - it was his life-saver, and helped him get through daily living. Very sad.

I believe this was the actor who had issues with depression for years.
So sad to hear...I can relate on loving an animal to that extreme.

Sounds like a mob mentality of mean people really brought him down. If he'd been living there before with his dog and had no complaints and was grandfather in.....why all the people going after him? Because they were bored? Because they were mean?
I hope they feel like absolute crap and get harrassed for harrassing him to suicide.

An absolutely horrible story to hear. Anyone who has been bullied and harassed by a home-owner association or co-op board can relate to how these people with nothing better to do with their lives can drive innocent people to desperate actions simply because they never grew out of their urge to be the playground bully from elementary school. They made the man feel like he had murdered his best friend or a surrogate child of sorts. I see this as being no different than if these HOA bullies had shoved the pills down his throat personally.

I read an update to the story where the HOA people bascially refused to take any blame for what happened, which sounds about like what I would expect from people like that. Anyone with a conscience would at the very least express some sort of regret for how they behaved.
