There are numerous celebrities who continued to, or wanted to continue, basking in the limelight. If some hadn't (and these people HAD the resources), they wouldn't have ended up in a bad way...more recently, Whitney Houston.

A few examples I can think of are Kristy McNichol, who walked away from Hollywood because of struggles with depression and anxiety. Michael Schoeffling ("Sixteen Candles") could never get roles that equaled that, so he bowed out and took up another occupation. Tina Turner has said "no more concerts."

Can you think of any others who walked away to lead a more tranquil life?

A couple that come to mind with me is Gary Burghoff (Radar on MASH), and Jan Smithers, who was in WKRP in Cincinnati.

This may be dated, but the attractive blonde young adult man who played a love interest of the oldest daughter in the movie "The Sound of Music". A fast search revealed he joined the military, if my memory serves me correctly.

David Lee Roth never walked away (except from Van Halen in 1985).

That's what I was talking about. This is the first album since 1984 he is on. Mike isn't though. Eddie's son Wolfy is playing bass now. Mike walked away.
