I haven't seen Johnny Depp play a vampire but Johnathan Frid really, really looked the part.

I watched Dark Shadows first run in the mid-sixties. I think it was actually broadcast live. It was the best soap opera ever.

It wasn't -- although they rarely did retakes -- and yes, it was!

I consider Frid one of the greatest character actors of all time, a great man who captivated millions and spanned generations. Like the parting of Dick Clark, the world has been lessened somewhat by Frid's passing.

Stunningly sad news! May he rest in peace. I will forever cherish his work.
You said it way better than I could. He was all that!

I had serious fights with my brothers over "Dark Shadows". They wanted to watch "Marine Boy".
I made my husband watch DS on netflix last year. He liked it, and it was just as great as I remembered it.

I have a cat I named Tiny Barnabas.

I read that Frid has a cameo role in the new movie. Was his last acting role.

Maybe one of the oldies stations will start showing reruns if the tape/film/kinescope or whatever it was recorded on still exists.
