She didn't survive...hey, hey. (But none of us will.) RIP, Donna...thanks for the disco dance songs.

My goodness....this has certainly been the year of death! Either that, of I'm getting to that age where everybody that goes was part of my era.
Younger people are probably saying...Donna, who?

Default Absolutely tragic

God, what tragic news. This was an incredibly beautiful, vibrant, dynamic, charismatic black woman, someone who IMO set the gold standard for how all women should look. She was gorgeous, classy, fresh, and just bursting with positive energy. This was only matched by her musical talent. Her music defined the mood for disco that will always remain. When I first heard her, I was in high school, preparing for college. In high school, her music gave me the feeling that there was a level of excitement and festivity that existed of which I was unaware, and as a college freshman, the excitement and newness of the dynamic environment that was that initial college experience was defined by her music. The spirit of positive, festive energy that her music generated still remains with me. I knew that as long as Donna Summer was alive somewhere, the sun was shining. I will always love that woman and her music.

Cancer has taken yet another. We are long overdue in declaring a "War on Cancer." Where are all these so-called genuises? We've got thousands of students getting 4.8 GPAs so they can be admitted to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, and Stanford, presumably to excel in the medical field to become doctors and medical researchers. They are supposed to be exceptionally intelligent, supremely driven, and uniquely talented. Where the hell is the thrust of these people in finding a cure for Cancer? Why aren't their talents making an impact in finding a cure for this disease? Maybe smart and hardworking, but not creative and truly talented. Those who are privileged have the easiest road. They slide into Harvard and Yale as a matter of course, having absolutely no impact on finding a cure for this disease over CENTURIES of a privileged existence. To hell with the Space Shuttle, or visiting Mars, or nation-building abroad, billions spent by GOP PACs to run deceptive marketing ads. Bush spent a trillion dollars to kill people and nation-build, when that money could've gone towards medical research to find a cure for Cancer. Cancer is decimating the lives of every human being, and this time it took the life of a true gem, Donna Summer. We have to get our priorities straight.

May this magnificent woman rest in peace. She made the world a better place.

Poetic. I can't beat that. Donna Summer, in addition to being a great talent, also harkens to when Cutlass Supremes were every other car, "Greg Brady hair," bad clothes, freeways, sunshine, and still-affordable housing in metro LA.
