Most respected celebrities?
We've seen that long thread about the most hated celebrities. How about the ones ya'll respect the most?
My two would have to be Oprah Winfrey and Martina McBride. Both of them have good character and use their celebrity status to inspire and motivate people.
Everyone should listen to Martina McBride's new CD, Waking Up Laughing. Filled with very uplifting and inspiring songs. Martina is also a good Christian and very devoted to her family.

I'd have to say Chuck Norris. He was black listed pretty much from the movie industry after he became a born again Christian. He stuck to his guns, and ended up having a wonderful long runnng t.v. series.

First one who came to mind was Ellen DeGeneres, whom I've always admired. She's just a classy woman, who isn't afraid to stand up for herself & others - without being confrontational about it. I also happen to think she's hilarious, and very intelligent to boot. Go Ellen! I also love Queen Latifah, just for being true to herself... she's one of the few who doesn't fall for Hollywood BS, and presents a beautiful image for our young girls.

Another vote for Ellen, and Oprah.
Tom Selleck, and that Cal Ripken fellow (I think he qualifies, although he's sports).
And I'd have to list too many Country artists here as well.
Can't choose just one of all these wonderful people, but Oprah could probably take the title.

Tom Hanks because he seems to be an upstanding family man. And also happens to be a wonderful actor.
