Do you think Joan Crawford was attractive?
I haven't seen any of her old films aside from movie clips, but even then, I don't really see how she was considered so beautiful. Maybe I'll always associate her as a 56 year old in 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane', but even then, I think she looked kind of masculine, maybe 'handsome' in a way at times, but personally not comparable to the really beautiful actresses of the past like Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, or even Bette Davis or Mae West. She did have a forceful, sort of masculine aspect to her personality and I'm not surprised that she was probably bisexual or had lesbian tendencies.

I've seen a photo of her from the '30's where she is so made up that Aldous Huxley described it as "...looking like some yet un-named product of Dupont."

No. Lots of awful things said about her in "Mommie Dearest". The younger 2 girls do not agree with book.
Whatever the truth she had that "hard" look....

No, I don't think she was attractive. I esp. don't like her eyebrows. I will say, however that Joan, and it seem many of the stars of that era, appear better groomed and dressed than todays "stars" even if they aren't considered beautiful by todays standards. They also are more conservatively dressed as well, which isn't a bad thing, IMO.

I think she looked.....odd. Not ugly but eerily weird. Like she could go from a lady to a full out biotch in about 5 seconds.
In that era I think most women looked well groomed and elegant. I wouldn't mind seeing that style make a comeback.
