So he'd be 85 when the kid was graduating high school. I'm not sure I even know any males that lived that long in my family tree..not anywhere close.

I guess if they have money that makes it different, as there will be caretakers for the kid and him.

My mom was juggling being a caretaker for an elderly parent when we were kids. I can't imagine being a caretaker for your spouse and your kid at the same time...the kid will have to grow up fast.

Plenty of young children lose parents who had them at a younger age. Death is inevitable for us all and it won't always be from old age. And I suppose they could never have had you if you feel a child's life is lacking due to the age of their parents. Either you are happy to be alive and appreciate the parents you got or you're not and you don't.

It has always surprised me that Steve Martin didn't have his own kids. I think he's a great father-figure and he's going to be a terrific dad! Who cares if he's 67? The older, the wiser!
