"George Zimmer" may not be a household name, but his is a household voice. Zimmer is the guy who's been saying, "You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it" in Men's Wearhouse commercials for the past 28 years. In addition to being the company's gravelly-voiced spokesperson, he was also its founder and chairman ... "was" being the operative word. The chain announced today that it had terminated Zimmer, USA Today reports. The statement did not offer a reason why, but Zimmer offered a statement of his own.
Men's Wearhouse Boots Gravelly-Voiced Founder - 'You're gonna like the way you look. I guarantee it.' Yeah, that guy

His voice sure stands out! Everytime I pass his store I hear him saying that. He visually fits the role too. A great pitchman can increase interest and sales with the right delivery and charisma. Take the late Billy Mays and Vince Shlomi (Shamwow guy) for example.

Anyone know WHY he was terminated? I hope he himself comes out, if it was an unjust or assinine reason, and tells media what happened.
He can always fill in for "The Most Interesting Man in the World".

If you click on the article and read it, you can see what he thinks the reason is.

Being a native Texan, I've been subjected to his annoying ads for years. He won't be missed...least not by me!

I'm a woman, have never stepped into one of the stores.
That being said the commercials never sold me on the product, or wanting my husband to shop there.
I'm strange but the "Wearhouse" part of the company name would bug me...maybe some thought it was clever, but I always perceived it as a misspelled word.
Not exactly the same, but naming a store Dress Barn also stops me from wanting to shop there.

I did read an article when the story first broke, and he is very pro legalizing marijuana, as well as a partaker of it, according to the article. I don't buy that, there is something else going on that we may never hear about.

They say they want a more youthful pitchman to bring in a younger shopper.

This likely could be the main reason, Though men's warehouse could not publicly state this.
I was discussing this with my GF, And it's shocking how the founder of a successful business gets simply voted out. I know it's the business laws of shares and whatnot but this guy is an American success story and now he's left out in the cold.

That's kinda odd, he's the owner/founder and chairman of the chain and the board ousted him? Hell, he can fire the whole lot if he wanted to.
