I never thought I'd say this about a Miley Cyrus song, but I actually really like it. The video is disappointing though (why is she naked or licking a sledge hammer? ).
The video actually isn't that bad. The nudity was a bit unnecessary though.

I feel the video had much better potential than what she did with it because the song isn't horrible. She didn't have to be naked, in underwear or licking what looked like a dirty hammer to make it great. I just feel sad for her and all of the other 'train wreck' actresses more than anything else. It's obvious she's a child of stage parents. Same with Lohan, Spears, etc.

^^^ What Carlita said.
Good LORD.
The problem is that Madonna redefined "outrageous" and showed that those stunts get the sleeping people's attention and money. Then Lady gag me (love that!) , who happens to have a really great voice - but needed something to take the attention of her less-than-gorgeous-looks, took it another step beyond sanity. Truth is, Miley is bored out of her mind. She made a killing as Hannah Montana and at one point was one of the richest women in Hollyweird. She wants to remain "relevant" and is an attention junkie. And she hired Brittany Spears manager and then consulted as well with Brittany on how to shake the good girl image. Miley Cyrus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

She really can be quite beautiful and I thought she was destined to be one of those stars who understood how much good she could do as a positive and healthy role model for all her young girl fans. But alas, that was not to be. I find it a huge waste of talent and social capital for her to be going down this pornographic and underwhelmingly tacky road. She really does have some smarts and some talent and could do so much. Maybe she'll escape the Spears-lohan-child actor curse, maybe not.

She jumped the shark for me when she was rude to her father at the CMA's. I don't care who you are, and I don't care if your father never made as much money as you, you simply don't diss him in front of millions of his fans and friends just to make yourself feel good. But he allowed her to do that and no one wants to tell the little money machine to knock it off.

Probably from 4 or 5 that were picked for her to choose from. It's always interesting to me that viewers forget there are money makers behind the money makers.

And why is everyone making such a big deal over Miley and not Lady Gag Me? Who wanted to see her bare azz with scary makeup and bulging eyes? That was way more upsetting than a girl in a bikini putting a fake finger in her crotch.
She said in an interview that she was the one who scripted and choreographed this and even picked out that outfit and the giant finger. She is apparently very much in control of her own career and has been since she was about 15. I think the reason she is "picked on" for this as opposed to Lady G is that Lady gaga is much older and appeals to a different crowd. Maile's crowd is a lot of very impressionable pre-teens and tweenies. One woman in an interview said her kids got mad at Miley while watching the show.

My children loved Hannah Montana and begged for her albums and other collateral toys and things over the years. One of my girls (now around Miley's age) sat with me for the VMA's. She got very sad when Miley started acting like an idiot and walked out of the room. I think Miley needs to understand that the people who made her uber wealthy aren't loving this. And the "wacko female oversexed marginally talented" field is really crowded. She may find herself on the losing end of this.

Funny, I watched her interview where she was disingenuously complaining that people were "still talking about it weeks later..." As if that wasn't the intent. Her speaking voice is so unpleasant and old-lady-ish, I suddenly had this vision of her at age 50 with her face trashed from too much partying, her hair looking like Nick Nolte's mug shot, a cigarette hanging out of her mouth, and she's living in some hovel because she blew all her money on sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. She has that old bag lady attitude and voice... who knows how she'll turn out in 30 years!!

I have to admit Miley is entertaining in a bizarre train wreck sort of way. She gives plenty of fuel for the people who like to parody.

She's not a classy girl that's for sure. I wish she would put the tongue away.
Although she's still very young, the way she raves on reminds me of a 14 or 15 year old.

Her handlers and managers have accomplished what they set out to do. Everyone is talking about her. There's an old saying in entertainment, any publicity is good publicity.

She is on a crash course to destruction. The list of young girls who can't handle fame just grows. I am like an earlier poster who feels sorry for them all. Many of us did things as young people that we are lucky are not plastered all over the internet for the world to see. I hope Miley gets her act together because I don't want to witness another young girl crash and burn.
