He said he knew it was time to go, but saying goodbye was still an emotional affair for Jay Leno, who signed off as the "Tonight Show" host for a second time Thursday night.

Choking up as he thanked the audience for being "incredibly loyal," Leno said his "Tonight Show" years were "the greatest 22 years of my life" and proclaimed himself "the luckiest guy in the world."

This kills me. So sad to see both Jay go and the Tonight Show leave Burbank. They have both been staples here for so many years. Its a huge loss for the city of Burbank. Jay is one of the nicest guys ever. See him all the time driving around and he's always so cool waving, saying hello, stopping to chat with people. One of the great, great guys in show business.

There was just always something comforting passing by the studio even as a kid knowing that Carson or Leno were there making magic. Wish they would have moved Fallon to L.A.

Jay is originally from Andover, MA and he does come back to visit. One day my husband was working at repairing MG cars and who drove in but Jay Leno!! He was pleasant and the two of them sat around exchanging jokes. He was genuine and friendly. He will really be missed.
