She made an (easy) living based on her looks. Instead of fading gracefully into the sunset like every other celebrity before her, she had plastic surgery done. IMO, the bullying is fair game. She tried to cheat natural progression of humans and it failed miserably. Maybe the bullying will be a cautionary tale for others considering plastic surgery.
Its a sign of the times. In the past it was the gossip columnists who did the damage.
Then again, another example of why folks should avoid botox and the like and just age as nature intended.

I never understood the fascination with Kim when she was young or her acting either. She may be a very
nice person but she obviously has some issues about aging. There are and have been many actresses
who chose to age gracefully (some mentioned above and others like Leslie Caron, Meryl Streep, Kathy
Bates, Lauren Bacall, Lauren Hutton, Jessica Tandy......). But this obsession to look 20-40 years younger
and defy biology is disconcerting.
Great quote from Sunset Blvd. "There's nothing tragic about being 50. Unless you're trying to be 25."
1. Let's table the "bully" label; it's being overused.
2. Yes, people can be (and were) cruel. That doesn't mean that people aren't going to comment on an actress who used to be beautiful and now looks moon-faced, stretched, and overly "done." Aside from blowhards like Trump, who should have known he'd be quoted, most of the comments were by people on message boards such as this one, and remain unread by Novak.
3. Give me a break with the "audacity to age" krapola; if she'd simply aged, no one would have cared and viewers would have expected it of someone who's 81-years old, for cryin' out loud. It's the constant attempt to fight aging, with celebs parading in front of us who apparently sat in the plastic surgeon's waiting room, flipped through before/after albums, then pointed to the entry on p.28 and said, "I want that look."
good quote from the link: "I think it's safe to say that nature is no longer dictating our standard of beauty. Our own
childish insecurities are and we have to stop using our voices to reinforce this insane, unnatural standard of beauty that
has been developed.....Things are getting worse--and it isn't biology that's driving it."
If we think about it, there is a lot of money to be made for women (and men) to feel insecure about the way they look.
I just now watched Nip/Tuck on either Showtime or Netflix and doubt there is much exaggeration, especially in Hollywood. And I don't think this obsession with youth is going away any time soon---if ever.
I think the injections gave her face a doughy look; still, those who made her miserable with their snarks should hope that THEY look as good at 81!
