I remember hearing he was sick and fighting it ....He fought a long time ...May he RIP.

I believe he was recovering from cancer when he began his recording career. In fact, I remember Mark Miller of Sawyer Brown shaving his head in solidarity.

I wasn't a huge fan as he was pretty contemporary and my tastes run toward a more traditional country sound, but he certainly had talent. And I would much prefer his middle-of-the-road tunes to what's on country radio these days.
