I always adored Steve Martin until he did those "Cheaper by the Dozen" atrocities. Those movies actually made me mad, they were so awful. I like Steve Martin's older comedy routines, still.
I LOVE TJ Miller. I've seen him many times and I always leave the comedy club exhausted from laughing. He's currently in HBO's Silicon Valley.
Ellen Degeneres is good... saw her in New Orleans and was surprised at how many dirty jokes she told. Wasn't expecting it. :-)
I agree with Maniac 77 about Mitch Hedburg. He was an absurd person and I loved his sense of humor.
Mike Birbiglia is very funny, too. He has a couple of specials- My Girlfriend's Boyfriend is good as is Sleepwalk With Me.
If you haven't heard of Henny Youngman, you owe it to yourself to look him up on You Tube. He was known as the King Of One-liners and here are some quotes that I still remember:
A guy complains of a headache. Another guy says “Do what I do. I put my head on my wife’s bosom, and the headache goes away.” The next day, the man says, “Did you do what I told you to?” “Yes, I sure did. By the way, you have a nice house!”
While playing golf today I hit two good balls. I stepped on a rake.
Those two are a fastidious couple. She’s fast and he’s hideous.
"Doctor, I have a ringing in my ears." "Don't answer!"
