In your opinion, who is the funniest comedian?

My number one would be Kevin James (Don't Sweat the Small Stuff)

Runner up would be Kevin Hart.

So freakin hilarious.

There is no question. Best American comedian is Joan Rivers. The sort of jokes I see her consistently get away with is shocking and refreshing. The kind of jokes that others only drop on HBO etc.

I might agree with that.

However the group of 5 known as Monty Python has given me more laughs than any other has come close to giving me.

Most of today's comedians offer nothing but rank, unfunny sexual comments. They remind me of 12 year old boys trying to act smart. When one has to be explicit with the jokes, they cease being funny. Subtle jokes are by far the funniest. Which leaves me wondering why I like Joan so much.

The late Mitch Hedberg was the funniest to me. He was like a grungy Seinfeld who did mostly observational humor with a bunch of odd one-liners. He had such unique delivery and stage presence. He died of a drug overdose though.

Jim Carey was great back when he was on In Living Color.

Also loved Rodney Dangerfield.

Robin Williams is also great when he does standup ... but not as funny in his current TV show.

I prefer "nice" comedians/comediennes who are funny without needing to be vulgar or tear others down to be funny.

Carol Burnett as well as Ellen Degeneres
