I posted about Freddie Prinze on the Herve Villechaize (sp) thread, then I find this one by the same OP.
I was young (21), naive and married (at 19) but still had a crush on Freddie Prinze, who was 22. Like Kennedy, and later Elvis, I remember when I heard about his death/suicide. It bothered me for a looooooooooooooooooong time, as I had never experienced someone I "cared for" dying by their own hand. Being so young (he and I), it just didn't make sense to me.
I am happy that his namesake has made a good life for himself, and I believe he is very close to his mother, Kathy, as well.
I always thought he was way overrated. I love a good comic. He had a schtick about being Puerto Rican or something, and just nothing behind it.
He'd mention being half Puerto Rican and half Hungarian, which he called "Hungarican", but most of his routines were about funny people in his neighborhood.
"lookin' good". He was a pretty cool guy from what I read. I remembered when he died I was about 6 or 7 years old and had a spooked out feeling watching the news reports all day as my mother had a macabre interest in his death.
