Sad indeed. There was something about him where you couldn't help but like the guy.

I was very sad to hear the news his morning. I loved him in Rockford Files, and he played one of the best characters in my all time favorite movie "The Great Escape". He was one of the last of the true great ones.

"Support Your Local Sheriff" was one of my favorite movies he starred in. Town jail with no bars for walls and no bars on the window and yet the prisoner couldn't escape. It was very funny

So sad to see him go. One of my all time favorites. He's been an inspiration to me not to take life too seriously.

I just re-watched the entire Rockford series last year on Netflix. What a great show. When my wife and I first got together in 1980 it was into syndication and we would watch it almost daily. RIP Mr. Garner, we will always remember you!

He was my teen heart throb in those old Doris Day/Tony Randall movies. Total hunk. More recently (like 30 years ago) he was in a good movie with Sally Field, called Murphy's Romance.
He had a good long life.
