Dutchwoman LindavG has been one of Michael Jackson's ardent defenders in threads discussing him. One thing I noticed about MJ's last few years was that he seemed to be more popular overseas that he was in the States. Why? Were his fans abroad more willing to give him the benefit of the doubt? Were they not affected by the tendency of people in the United States to tear down people they built up?

I don't know if anyone here has access to EbscoHOST, a database of journal articles, but if you do, please research "Michael Jackson" as I did last week. I found at least two interesting articles that weren't the typical tabloid fodder. One was from 2009 , titled "Man in the Mirror" and it appeared in Britain's "Metro" newspaper.

I did a quick search of Amazon. They have 65 hardcover titles that claim to be biographies of Michael Jackson! Not all of them cover the same territory, and there are different "slants".

Here's an example of a good article that doesn't go the breathy tabloid route.

The cult and martyrdom of Michael Jackson

Here's another.
