They are kids. No one should expect them to have answers to any issues or really intelligent thoughts yet. They appear to be trying to sound smarter than they are. This must be the kind of talk they hear at home. It is kind of pretentious and sad.
I find them amusing but not different from a lot of teens who think they are "deep". They just have more money.

Not all moody artist/philosophical types are into scientology. Some kids just think they know everything and have all of the answers. These are the kids that say they are too cool for the ordinary school things like football and prom.
They will work with whatever source material is around. And whatever drugs. Heh.
