This is an important issue to all of us (even if you don't care about celebrities) because it reflects our society as it is today. Our entertainment obsessed culture created an environment in which 1) a tv movie showing the young woman's mother in a negative light was recently broadcast to very good ratings, and 2) the young woman was hounded by the entertainment press purely because she was her mother's daughter.

If this turns out to be a suicide or even an accident following drug or alcohol abuse, I think we all are responsible in that we are complicit in supporting a culture that has an unpleasant and unhealthy fascination with celebrities with personal problems.

I'm sure the entertainment press is thrilled that they have this story to report.

Poor little girl.

And, all the articles start with, 'Whitney Houston's daughter,' as if no one would care, otherwise.

I disagree. It's so they'll know who is being discussed. No disrespect intended.

SHOCKING NEWS!!!!! Simone Battle Passed Away.
Simone was working on an album. Potential multiple platinum albums are not produced due to her death. For your information, I didn't pray for her family.

Would a whole punch of idiots pray for her and her family if she was merely some Jane Doe who almost drowned/overdose?

I think it's shameful that the newspaper article report could only talk about Whitney Houston and how messed up she was. The poor kid was doomed.
