Just when I think I've seen just about every inane comment on this forum, I see this.

During spring and fall I am my regular complexion. In other words my skin tone changes with the weather and I do not bleach my skin nor do I lay in the sun to tan. Many brown people will change shades throughout the year, and it's quite normal for camera lighting to effect how skin color looks, as indicated in the pictures you've shown.
Thank you for this post.

Actually our (black) skin can and does lighten and darken based on amount of sun exposure and seasonally.

It can be quite difficult to tell the difference when you're looking at magazine photos (or even online photos) that are taken in artificial light, and when they're probably Photoshopped. Magazines do tend to "brighten" skin tones of models and celebrities when they publish them, even online.

If we were comparing two photos taken in natural daylight, with standard camera equipment, that we knew were not retouched with software... then I'd be ready to make a guess.

How is the so called lighter version of her "unnatural" are you saying that skin tone doesn't exist on any one?

I sense something...

Could you be more specific.

If you're born with the skin tone of Oprah and later alter it to the one of Mariah Carey, it is becoming "unnatural."

She hasn't lightened her skin. Multiple people in this thread have told you that they appear darker or lighter in photos depending on time of year and lighting. It's not unheard of. It's very possible that she had a dark tan when the first photo was taken (yes, black people tan). You're basing your opinion on a couple of pictures. Have anything more convincing? Yeah, didn't think so.

Are you black? Why are you so defensive?

I'm not defensive. Not in the least. I just can't figure out why you won't let go of your ridiculous theory. Makes you look silly, TBH.

(To which I'm sure you'll reply "HATER! " because that's your stock response)
