He really wasn't. He lived his life as a heterosexual male. I'm pretty sure I read he regretted coming out as bisexual in the 70's because it was more of an attention play than authentic.
^This.
He called himself a "closet heterosexual" and spoke of his experimentation with bisexuality as a stab at hedonism, nothing more.
1. His duet with Bing Crosby. Seems to get played every year (not a bad thing!) The first time I saw it was the first time I took him seriously as an artist. He stripped down his fabulous Ziggy Stardust persona and just ... sang a simple tune very well, and very heartfelt. I've cried every time I hear it; I probably always will.
2. Singing "Under Pressure" with Annie Lennox at the Freddie Mercury tribute show. 1992.
3. Live in Austin in the fall of 1995 at the Meadows. One of the greatest concerts I've ever attended. Nine Inch Nails opened for him. I had never herd of them.
4. Watching the British athletes enter the Olympic stadium in 2012 to "Heroes."
I remember his show with the huge spider. He was a showman. Also a pretty good actor. "The Man who fell to Earth" was strange, but I liked it. A real loss.
In my younger years I listened to a lot of music on the car radio, and I always turned the volume up a bit whenever his songs came on. 'Fame' was probably my favorite. Sorry to hear he's no longer with us.
I was shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of David Bowie. I first saw the news on David Bowie's Facebook page, but then some people were talking about how it was a "hoax." But, an hour later, I saw many major news stream sharing the news of his passing as being real. I grew up with his music. Probably one of the most iconic artist of our generation. I felt with his passing that a part of my youth has also passed away. This is a very huge loss in the world of music. RIP David Bowie.
RIP David Bowie. Another talent gone too soon. Prayers going out to a grieving wife Iman and his family. Thank you David for sharing your world with us, if only for a little while.
