Kathleen Turner - Time marches on!
You all remember Kathleen Turner, introduced to the moviegoing public in the excellent movie "Body Heat." In addition to being HOT, she had this real sultry voice.
Well, it's been 26 years since that movie and she happended to be on Larry King tonight. You can still tell it's Kathleen, though she has gotten chunky...it happens. And, weight gain has been her nemesis for quite a while. The thing that struck me is how deep her voice has become...TWICE as deep. Listening from the other room, you'd think it was a MAN!
Kathleen Turner, in her own way, will always be all right with me.

Now wait a minute. The woman has rheumatoid arthritis and has been on steroids for a few years to control the pain. That is also why she is gaining weight. It also doesn't help that she went through a divorce and became an alcoholic before and during the course of her RA diagnosis.

Yes, she said all those things. But she did battle weight issues within 5 to 10 years of "Body Heat." It was her VOICE that I was writing around. It was somewhere between fascinating and downright funny...it has gotten very deep.

Again, the steroid use, to give her some releif from her constant pain, also can alter ones voice. I think shes still cool and I give her kudos for being so forthright. How many hollywood actresses would hide away rather then reveal a less then perfect physical appearance ?

I saw her last night on TV too and was also shocked at how heavy she'd become. She is still attractive, and other than the weight, relatively unchanged from back when she was at the peak of her career.

I thought her speech was kinda slurred, before I understood her health problems I was thinking she may have had a stroke.

Right, her enunciation was a little odd in a few spots. She'd had a rough last 5 to 15 years....she has often been paralleled to Lauren Bacall of the next generation, presumably for her voice...except that the Lauren Bacall era wouldn't have made for a good time to be a "vamp," full nudity and all.

The ageism is so pathetic. Kathleen Turner is older! Some of her health problems are probably due to menopause.
