If he really cares about him, he would respect Val's privacy.

I didnt know this about Val. in fact I dont know much about the man.
Turned down Patrick Swayze's role in Dirty Dancing (1987) because he didn't want to be perceived as a "hunk."
Did his own singing while playing Jim Morrison in The Doors (1991). The real members of the band said they had difficulty distinguishing Kilmer's voice from that of Morrison's.

I just read this on line.
Val Kilmer appreciates Michael Douglas’ concern, but says his friend is “misinformed” about his health.
Douglas recently let slip during a Q&A session in London that Kilmer is battling a similar cancer to the type Douglas himself faced several years ago.
But now fans have in fact heard from Kilmer, who took to Facebook to refute the claims.
“I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed,” Kilmer wrote in a lengthy post on his official page. “The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago, when I asked him for a referral for a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat.”
“I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever,” he continued. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily.”
Kilmer didn’t fault Douglas for the slip, though. “Whatever led Michael Douglas to speculate about my health, he’s a loving and devoted friend to a privileged group of talent people around the world, and I’m sure he meant no harm.”

I have a lot of respect for Val now. He handled that in a very gracious way.

Speaking of MD and cancer, I thought that he was supposed to be history by now?

MD recovered fully thankfully. Hopefully Val is not seriously ill. Especially in whats been an awful year for losing entertainers.
