She will be missed. She was very talented, as an actresss and a writer. I appreciated her openness about her struggles with mental illness.

Boyfriend, not husband. Carrie's only marriage was to Paul Simon. I remember going to a Simon concert (at Dodger Stadium, IIRC) when they were together. She came out on stage and waved and the crowd cheered.

RIP, Carrie Fisher. She was an amazing author. "Postcards from the Edge" is still one of my favorite novels. There's this one point when she goes to a dinner party and there's something in the soup that looks like an elephant booger. After the party she stayed in bed for three days. (You have to read it to really understand and get it.)

I'm sorry she couldn't recover, but maybe her stay in the hospital only delayed the inevitable.

Not to sound selfish, but I'm watching yet another piece of my childhood float away... *sigh*

What a year this has been. Bits and pieces of our youth coming to an end with the loss of so many talented people.

In this interview at 5:12 she says her maternal grandmother had a heart attack in her 50s, though the grandmother survived her attack. Maybe Carrie inherited a cardiac issue. Whatever the case Carrie Fisher had a sense of humor through much suffering, not all of it caused by her choices. For instance, she didn't choose to have mental health challenges. Despite all she went through to all outward appearances she was a good person. May the Force be with her.

My brother-in-law was her age, 60 and suffered a massive heart attack after going to a party and probably having a few drinks was not in good shape, but survived! He went on to a very very productive active life. They did a code blue on him, opened his chest and did a heart bypass. I really thought she would have survived this.

Carrie had a brother. I wonder why no one has acknowledged Todd.

Speed of treatment is EVERYTHING when it comes to surviving a massive MI. And unfortunately treatment options are very limited when someone codes 30,000 feet in the air. If the event had happened an hour or so later, after Carrie Fisher was on the ground in LA where she could have been transported quickly to a hospital, her chances of survival would have been a lot better.

So sad and so unexpected this latest loss.
Chinese Astrology. Year of The Fire Monkey. It ends January 27th. Thank God.

Do they have AED devices on airplanes now? If not, they should. They are not that expensive and relatively easy to use.
