I had the pleasure of meeting him when I appraised his Malibu home some years back. Absolutely the nicest most unassuming person you could ever meet. Sad to see him go.

RIP Mr. Warmth

I find that very sad. Mr. Rickles was one of my favorites in my youth. He was simply outrageously funny.

There was one award show where Mr. Rickles, I guess as host, was poking fun at the various celebrities in attendance. Seeing Frank Sinatra, he said "Hello Frank. Let me help you feel at home", and then Don started making machine gun noises (of course, they were great friends, but Frank hated others to joke about his alleged Mafia connections).

Don was one of a kind. I guess in the 'politically correct' atmosphere of today, his kind of humor will never be seen again.

He was also an original in not having a prepared act. He would go out and riff on people. His spontaneous act would influence others, like Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams.

Don was performing, I believe, just last month. I had followed him on Twitter to keep up with him (although he rarely tweeted).

Don, you were a pleasure.

He was adept at "insult humor" but my favorite in that genre was Jack E. Leonard. Ohhh he was vicious.

I loved both of these men as well. Too bad there's very little of Leonard on Youtube, I'd love to see more of him.
