As with so many others both famous and not; MM's death was a simple overdose.

MM had taken sleeping pills but they weren't *working* so she asked her maid to give her an enema with Nembutal to speed up the reaction. Sadly as with Judy Garland and far too many others piling on more barbiturates because of a built up tolerance and or forgetting how much one last took and when, le grand sommeil came instead of just rest.

This is probably as good a place as any to say that Mama Cass Elliott of the Mamas and Papas did not die eating a ham sandwich either. Somehow this cruel fat joke has followed her into the grave and won't go away...

Yes, we may never know the exact circumstances of MM's death, but Cass Elliot is a different story:

"An oft-repeated urban legend is that Elliot choked to death on a ham sandwich.[38][39] The story spread soon after the discovery of her body and was based on speculation in the initial media coverage. A 2014 article in the publication Haaretz identified the person who started the false rumor as follows: "Unfortunately, the first doctor [in London] who examined her speculated to the press about the cause of death, and thatís the version that stuck."[40] An autopsy had not been performed when the doctor commented, and London police told reporters that a partially eaten sandwich found in her room might have been relevant to the cause of death. The post-mortem examination found that Elliot had died of heart failure, and no food was present in her windpipe,[41][33] yet the false story has persisted ever since."

It was her obesity more than anything else that contributed to Cass Elliot's death, yet ham sandwiches have been suffering taint by association ever since.

Hmmm.......but a question, if she indeed took a large dose of sleeping pills why were none found in her stomach at autopsy???:

https://theunredacted.com/marilyn-mo...ng-the-legend/

"The autopsy report only added to the confusion, Monroe had taken a massive overdose of drugs, but no trace of the pills were found in her stomach..........Monroe had supposedly swallowed upwards of 60 pills, but there was no water or glass in the bedroom. The actress had always had trouble swallowing pills and required copious amounts of water."

"Clemmons immediately felt something was wrong ó he thought it obvious the body had been moved. And whilst there were empty pill bottles on the bedside table, there was no water or glass with which to take them.

Why too, was there no vomit? Monroe had taken a massive overdose of Nembutal, a barbiturate, that should have caused vomiting."

Pregnant? Maybe Bobby or Jack had something to worry about. No autopsy to reveal whether or not that might be the case?

Mystery surrounding the death of Marilyn Monroe carries on to this day. I have read many books about her life, and death.

Marilyn kept a notebook. She wrote down things said to her about especially current events, by folks like the Kennedy brothers. Some pillow talk there.

Robert Kennedy visited her, the day before her death. There were witnesses to this happening. Her house was bugged, and folks who had heard the tapes said Robert Kennedy got angry, and demanded to know the location of this notebook in the house. Marilyn refused to give it to him.

After her death, a search of the house revealed the notebook was gone, never to be seen again. She had a filing cabinet, filled with paperwork. This was found to be empty.

The police said the small group at Marilyn's house, including her housekeeper, and psychiatrist, Ralph Greenson, acted in a very shifty, suspicious manner during the early police investigation. Her housekeeper had filled the washing machine, and it was working when the police arrived at the death scene. Why would she do such a thing in the middle of the night, while such an awful event had taken place?

Peter Lawford, actor and the President's brother-in-law, and one of the last people Marilyn spoke to on the night of her death by phone, was wracked with guilt the rest of his life. What did he do, and what did he know?

Police at the death scene said they felt the body had been moved after death from somewhere else. By who, and why?

The housekeeper said she had grown suspicious something was wrong by seeing light under Marilyn's bedroom door in the middle of the night. Marilyn had new carpets fitted, and no light could be seen from outside her bedroom.

Marilyn's publicist Arthur Jacobs, was told of her death at 10.30pm, six hours before the police were notified, according to his wife. If that's so, what happened in the next six hours, and why? Her housekeeper let slip in one interview, that she found Marilyn dead at midnight, before hastily backtracking to her original story that it was the middle of the night.

Marilyn was involved with powerful, dangerous people. Shortly before her death, she had visited a hotel/casino owned by Frank Sinatra, and silent partner mobster Sam Giancana. Something happened there that distressed her greatly. She was said to have been drunk and drugged, then abused by Giancana. Photos taken were seen by Frank Sinatra, which he had destroyed.

It was said she was distressed at being fired from her movie 'Something's Got To Give', and was suicidal. She had actually been reinstated for that movie, for more money, and was elated at her victory over 20th Century Fox. She was on the up, not the way down.

Marilyn was said to have threatened the Kennedy brothers, that she would announce in public her involvement with them both. If she had done so, in 1962, it would have ruined their political careers. She was an aging sex symbol, and disturbed mentally. Her problems with previous overdoses was well known. We will probably never know the true train of events the last night of her life.

Do you mean discussing her? It'll change nothing at all. It's a curious event from 55 years ago, that still puzzles many.

The important thing about Marilyn, is why is there still so much interest in her life and times? She touches people somehow across the decades. In many photos, a feminine sensitivity is caught, unlike most so called sex symbols of the movies.

Her calendars still sell every year. You don't see calendars of other women movie stars of her time, which sell in anything like the quantities she does.

Here she is in 1962, in screen tests for the unfinished movie 'Something's Got To Give.' Just look at that girl go!!

She was killed by the Chicago mob. They were after kennedy for double crossing them after they got him elected. They being Sam giancana. Giancana didn't want to just have a piece of the president to share with New York families he was dumb enough to think he could have his own guy. Kennedys father had mafia trouble and cut a deal with giancana then they smartly double crossed him by bringing in bobby and going after organized crime full force. They had no choice anyway giancana was too much of an egomaniac.

Google how they went down to I think Kentucky and went door to door buying votes...
