Considering the lack of talent recently inducted into the “rock and roll” hall of fame I’d consider it an honor to not be inducted since far too many have nothing to do with rock and roll nor talent.
I wouldn't say Nugent is a better singer than Dylan or Young- maybe a better voice but not nearly better at conveying a message. And none of his songs had the impact of those two.
The snub I still think is funny is Linda Ronstadt making it in 16 years after the Eagles. The Eagles were founded when she encouraged two of her band members to go out on their own... Yet they were in a decade and a half before her.
With all the other valid singers/groups/musicians not currently inducted I really can't get worked up over Ted Nugent. Chaka Kahn is up this year and she sang at one of Bush's conventions so if you have the talent or impact you will have a chance.
The Eagles deserved it far more than Linda. Linda’s biggest hits were remakes of other people’s hits. The Eagles were an ensemble of talented singers, musicians, and song writers who weren’t limited to one style of music. Their songs influenced rock and country music.
