Anyone living to 91 passing away is not sad unless they crashed their car into a school bus etc.

As for the rest? IDK and IDC. Some people hate what he represented, others love it. Others thought his views were tame.

I've dated girls that made playboy seem super tame....who cares, no ones business but those involved. The end.

Maybe the repressed and\or dumber ones. He main-streamed sex. That's one big foot in the door for the US to escape it's puritanical roots. Ironically, he arguably helped women more than men.

I think saying "he's gone to a better place" doesn't apply here.

I agree with you. I think he was a dirty old man even back when he started Playboy. I don't get all the condolences I see floating around about what a perfect life Hefner must have had, how he can RIP after his partying etc.

To me, he's just ... I'll be nice since he died ... someone I never held respect for and didn't get his lifestyle at all. I don't understand why he is such an icon other than he got laid a ton by women who were doing it to further their own financial agendas. Not sure what's so noble or grand about that.

Sure is. Looks like the date on the mag is 1990. The Donald was slim and trim back then.

Playboy was controversial. It was the first mainstream magazine featuring 'artistic' female nudes. There are very few males today over the age of 50 that didn't have one or more Playboy magazines hidden under their bed at one time or another when they were going through puberty.

As a social statement on sexuality, books could be written on just the just the impact Playboy had. There was a fierce competitiveness between Hugh and Bob Guccione not to mention Larry Flint. The interactions, legal battles and exposé of virtually every controversial cultural, religious, and political issues of our times were brought to public attention in these magazines.
