On the magazine topic, I bought 3-4 issues in the last 25 years. Pam Anderson, Angie Everhardt were 2 of the issues but I can't remember who was on the cover of the other 1-2 issues.

My dad never had them (that I saw/found) and there was definitely a sleaze factory to anyone that had them sitting out on the coffee table. My former father in law got divorced in the 90's and thought it made him look cool to have them out at his new bachelor pad. I laugh when I see them advertised for sale (as if you would ever want to buy old porn....once again, sad)

Hef would be laughing his wig off at some of these posts, such as the one who thinks he "mainstreamed" sex. He neither invented nor "mainstreamed" it. The bunnies were adults, more than happy to be exploited, too. And Hefner was explouted by those dummies, er...bunnies, too.

I have to say, though, his last wife didn't have to close her eyes and bear it for too long. Word was that she'd initially called off the wedding when she found out Hef was 85. She thought he was 95.

LOL at these "He exploited women!!!" posts. Are older cougar women exploiting young men they hook up with?

Good Riddance to An Abusive Creep

(For the record, I'm not onboard with the "good riddance" sentiment when it comes to the recently departed in general. But the rest of it is a fairly interesting read.)

Lol your article gave me a good laugh as it was more or less a long advertisement for Holly Madison's book. Anyone who knows anything about Playboy from around 2000-present day knows exactly who holly is. She's the woman who was documented on tv on the show Girls Next Door who spent years obsessed with marring Hef as his girlfriend of many many years. It's also documented that at the age of 80+ years old he agreed to and went through with the process of trying to give Holly a baby through IVF. What a terrible human being that she was spending years trying to have a baby with. After that he turned around and married Crystal. Yes this is someone (Holly) that you would go to to ask about someone's character. lol she's bitter! I don't know if maybe you're daughter was a playmate or something but some of you sound bitter too.

Playboy has never offended me and I am a woman. In fact, I enjoyed reading the articles. The pics of the naked women were classy and not trashy. Hugh started out taking pics of Marilyn Monroe on his kitchen table. One could take a page from his business model.

It is not really sad. His playboy days ended years ago. His daughter has been the operator of the magazine and related businesses. I really enjoy reading his articles. He was a psychologist major and used that to push the idea of the best of the best women recorded on dead tree pulp format. Before Playboy every other art or x-rated book had clothed women. Playboy was not smut, it was smut meant for people who pretended to know what smut was. Personally I enjoy the magazine itself along with "Heavy Metal" and "Cream Lemon" for it's art movement as well as imagery. It was a well rounded magazine that took advantage of many of it's readers. Then the internet came along and with all magazines eventually waned due to the nature of what kept it going. A well rounded male oriented magazine
