That's a question you should ask of the FBI and/or crime units or, ya know, you could try Google and see what articles have been written about that.

And I should and will. But, ya know, that reply is kind of a way of saying you don't have any answers and don't particularly care.

I think, deep down, people really hate the people who have this mental illness more than they hate those who prey on them.

Suicide by hanging is not like what you see in western movies. I've had a discussion with a coroner describing death by self-hanging. Usually the suicide prepares with drugs or alcohol. The ligature is usually a sheet or rope, secured to a closet pole or a door knob with the other end around the neck so that it puts pressure against the arteries in the neck. It does not involve breaking the spinal column with a snap, nor does it come from strangulation. Rather the person is seated and the rope applies arterial pressure to bring unconsciousness and eventually death by cutting off the blood supply to the brain.
There are ways to commit suicide with simple household cleaning chemicals, no pills required.

Salling was said to be found "hanging from a tree." The wording implies he wasn't sitting on the ground.

Please.

Stop grouping everyone together in regards to mental illness. Ridiculous.

I didn't even know who he was, they showed a lot of footage here in LA of him on the news. I noticed the eyes, they had nothing there. Same look you see with many serial killers. This goes beyond being mentally ill, evil exists.

So to use your logic in the case of the Manson girls, people shouldn't dislike them because they're mentally ill? They had no control over what they did?

He was evil. I don't know how he got so far in Hollywood, but I good looks and what passes for "talent" forgives a lot of bad behavior with celebrities.

I also think he's not the only celebrity who has been involved in these things. There are probably lots of them. There is one in particular, I won't say his name here, but child porn found in his home a while back and he just said it was someone working in his home who must have been using his computer and put it on there. Yeah, right. And then nothing else ever happened, he was never arrested. Bet he paid someone off.

Why are you so dismissive? How am I grouping everyone together? Do you disbelieve that mental illness, if untreated, can drive people to do things against their nature?

I don't know if I believe evil exists. I know I don't want to believe evil exists, because that would mean there are people who cannot be helped because they are simply evil and irredeemable, I'm afraid. Idk why you're satisfied with that explanation--I really hope that pedophiles can be helped.

Don't think I ever said we had to like him, or anyone else. All I'm getting at is that I think these people need compassion and therapy, and maybe these crimes could be prevented in many cases.

Re: the eyes comment. I don't think you can determine someone's humanity or lack thereof that way. I was a huge Glee fan in the beginning, and a fan of his as well. After I heard what he had on his computer, I couldn't call myself a fan anymore but pitied him and wished he'd gotten help before he started downloading child porn.

Sorry it took me two posts to respond--that's what I get for doing this on my phone.

You're the one being dismissive, by grouping everyone under the mental illness umbrella.

Evil does exist.

An example the two college students in Virginia who lured a girl about 13 who the met online and killed her just to see what it was like to kill someone, that's evil.

There are thousands of examples like this.

Don't be so naive, while there are more good people than bad in this world, bad people do exist.

This guy was an example of that.

Not everyone can be cured, we're not talking about drug or alcohol addiction.

You never answered my question. Do you disbelieve that mental illness can cause people to act against their nature? Is it not fair to suggest that mental illness can do that to anyone? That's lumping everyone together or discussing a phenomenon of the human condition?

How can you prove evil exists? I'm not saying it doesn't, but it strikes me as a religious concept. Not a religious person myself. If there is no evil, then perhaps deviations such as attraction to minors are a sickness that can be cured, not something inherent and irreversible.
