You never answered my question. Do you disbelieve that mental illness can cause people to act against their nature? Is it not fair to suggest that mental illness can do that to anyone? That's lumping everyone together or discussing a phenomenon of the human condition?
How can you prove evil exists? I'm not saying it doesn't, but it strikes me as a religious concept. Not a religious person myself. If there is no evil, then perhaps deviations such as attraction to minors are a sickness that can be cured, not something inherent and irreversible.
Of course mental illness causes people to act out, but AGAIN you're grouping everyone together.

Susan Smith the woman who drowned her two little boys because the man she was dating didn't want kids around is a perfect example of evil. It wasn't mental illness. She wanted the kids out of the way because of her new man.
She planned the whole thing and than tried to say a black man carjacked her(in the south of all places), she knew what she was doing. Even did her fake crying(no tears) on TV, but the cops were already on to her.
You're not too educated on the subject, if you think you have to be a bible thumper(I am far from that) to think there are evil people around.
No reason at all to bring religion into this, there are bad people out there who know exactly what they're doing, and no prescription or therapy is going to help them.

I don't know if I believe evil exists. I know I don't want to believe evil exists, because that would mean there are people who cannot be helped because they are simply evil and irredeemable, I'm afraid. Idk why you're satisfied with that explanation--I really hope that pedophiles can be helped.

This man had video of children as young as age 3 being sexually assaulted for his pleasure.
Mental illness like depression, schizophrenia, etc cause all sorts of havoc for the sufferers and their families but they don't involve the exploitation of innocents.

He was accused of rape by two different women, in 2011 and 2016. With the first one, he claimed that was a setup also. But she received a settlement award against him by the court. 2.7 million dollars. I don't think they would have awarded her all that money if they thought she was just making stuff up.

So let me get this straight. You don't get red in the face over children being victimized but you get all defensive over what happens to a child predator. You are not concerned with child abuse but you have pity for a child predator. Hmmmm....
