I only saw one of her films, but she was more active in the '70s. I remember her more from her later TV appearances. At one point, she received more publicity about the paternity of her son than her work.

Her brother was my teacher in high school. I never believed that story but the obituary confirmed it was true.

She, herself, is the one who made that claim, and Nicholson disputed it (that'd be easy to establish today). IMO, her son is the spittin' image of a young Mark Goddard.

RIP Susan Anspach

Susan was really good in the movie “Five Easy Pieces”, along with Karen Black.

Five Easy Pieces is one of my all time fave movies.

I have watched it many times.

Released in 1970, it helped set the tone
for the more realistic, hard hitting, often downbeat 70s movies (imo best decade for american film).

Interestingly, Susan Anspach and Karen Black were both born in 1939.

Though various sources over the years have indicated different birth years for both,
1945 and 1942 for Anspach and usually 1942 for Black.
Both started back when actors and actresses would routinely chop off a couple years off their age.

Some of Five Easy Pieces was set in the PNW but actually filmed in BC, Canada,
on Vancouver Island.
