Those of you "of a certain age" might remember her from
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. She was Rick Nelson's ex-wife, and mother of actress Tracy Nelson and 3 sons who followed Rick to a path in music.
She came from a prominent family. Her brother is Mark Harmon, and her sister, Kelly Harmon, had a successful modeling career, but is probably known more for her series of '80s Tic-Tac commercials. Her mom had been an actress, though not a prolific one, and her dad had been a sports announcer after a few seasons of football.
There was a lot of drama and upset in her life. I remember her "seven-year-divorce" from Rick Nelson, with all of its allegations on both sides, and Mark Harmon's involved suit against his sister to obtain custody of her youngest son, 12-year-old Sam, after the death of Rick Nelson. Allegations of unfitness flew, and Harmon ultimately dropped the suit after Kristin, on the stand, accused Harmon's wife (Pam Dawber) of the same things
she'd testified to about Kristin. The kid ended up with his maternal grandparents. And Mark and his sister were forever estranged.
In her later years, she became a successful artist and jewelry designer, but had a lot of health problems. The last I read about her, was when she fell a few years ago, and fractured her skull.
The cause of death was a heart attack. RIP.
