Well this has been a great career for Trebek. He has two seasons left to go. Trebek has announced that he is likely retiring from Jeopardy by 2020.

I can come up with a few reasons otherwise.

1. He was born in 1940, is 78 years old.
2. He had a heart attack in 2007, another in 2012. Both were mild attacks though.
3. He suffered a fall last January, suffered a subdural hematoma. It was only a couple months previous that he suffered a fall at his home and underwent surgery for blood clots shortly after.

He is involved in a number of very worthy causes.
Check out his Wikipedia page, some very impressive things he has done in his life.

Me? I would travel the world and take my time doing it! But that's just me.

Trebek along with Pat Sajak and Vanna White are signed through 2020. All I know is that Alex Trebek is stepping away in 2020. I have no idea about Sajak and White though.

Yeah, I watched the whole piece on Objectified when it aired. Even though he said close to 50/50 with a lean toward leaving, it still sounded to me as though he'll definitely step away when his current deal is over in 2020.

LOL You don't KNOW any such thing. You're surmising that from having heard the same words from Trebek that the rest of us heard.

Yeesh.

I can't relate to why he's stayed on this long.
Obviously he enjoys his job.

But I can't imagine enjoying ANY job to continue doing it past the time when I'm independently wealthy enough to NOT have to do it. Period. Then again, he doesn't work year-round so if you think of his job as being comparable to a seasonal/part time job....maybe I would. But I still doubt it.

When I get to the pint in life where working is not about the money, I get back with an update.

Agree.

2020 he’ll be 80....he should sit back and enjoy.

Working is trading time for money, and there’s only so much time....
