i knew tom hanks had a steph infection on his leg but how did he cut leg? was it from the scene where he fell on the coral reef while trying to escape the island the first time?

Yes, he tried rowing out on his boat, the waves toppled him and his leg got a deep puncture/cut from the coral, his boat got deflated also. He started rowing the day after he saw the lights from a distant ship.

yeah, it looked bad, my mom was telling me that the crew had to rush over to him after the scene where there was blood in water.
