Most people I know didn’t know his name but his hairdo made him very recognizable.

I wonder what type of cancer he battled...

RIP.

I was kind of shocked because he looked really healthy to me - nice head of white hair, great tan, good dresser.

Later in the day I heard that he had been sick for a while. I still wonder what type of cancer as indeed he looked great the last time I saw him on TV which was not that long ago.

I understand that people want to have privacy but putting some symptoms or details out in the open may safe a life for someone else.

We recently lost a loved one due to cancer and wished we had known more.

I know what you mean, but when the family doesn't disclose the type initially, they usually never do.

The same thing happened with Jack Kemp. Interestingly, his cancer was announced when he was undergoing treatment, but the type was never specified. Nor was it when he died.
