"For Pete's Sake" is a wonderful song that he wrote. I hate to hear of Peter's passing, he was a very talented musician.

RIP Mr. Tork

Another piece of my childhood is gone. I adored the Monkees. My 7 yr old self was determined to marry Davy Jones, same as millions of other girls. Peter was sweet and dorky and could actually play many instruments.

Aw, sad to read on CD that Peter died . I haven't seen any news on tv yet. I'm sure I'll see it at some point.

Just saw this on the news. I always felt sorry for Peter because the others treated him like a doofus. I watched a biography of "The Monkees" just last week, and learned that he'd spent time in prison for possession of $3.00 worth of hash.
He was the true "hippie" of the group.

The news crushed me, I am a huge Monkees fan and went to their concert twice! Rest in peace Peter and have fun jamming with David in heaven!

Yes, Peter Tork was caught with a very small amount of hash after crossing (or was it attempting to?) the Mexican border with Texas. He had a lucky escape in that it was prosecuted as a federal offense and not local. Texas then (and still now) has some harsh views on criminal justice when it comes to illicit and illegal drugs. Peter Tork could have found himself doing several years of hard time in a Texas prison. By comparison three months (think that was the sentence/time served) in a federal lock-up must have seemed a godsend.

RIP. Funny, I started watching the series again about 16 months ago which led me to looking into their story more than I ever had before. It was interesting. I didn't appreciate the Monkees back in the day (I was more a Zepplin, Hendrix, Pink Floyd person) but did learn to appreciate their sound later on.
