Default Charlie Sheen pays for daughter vaccination... in nickels

When parents hold differing view on basic issues like discipline, education, or medical care for their children, it can be difficult to come to an agreeable compromise. However, when the parents have been mired in a messy divorce and bitter custody battle, those roadblocks can be.... insurmountable.

Charlie Sheen pays for daughter vaccination... in nickels?! - ParentDish

For the Record, I'm on Charlie Sheen's side on this one. Both parents need to agree on immunizations.

What if the girls needed the immunizations to go to preschool??? I don't know, Charlie Sheen is being a butthead here. Is he a scientologist or something? Who knows, maybe in their divorce settlement, he agreed to pay for these things.

At most public schools, you can opt out of immunizations if they conflict with religious/personal beliefs...although a couple of states were trying to make them mandatory. I agree, parents need to make joint decisions on healthcare, but boy these two, I don't think they'll agree on anything! You would think that with all their money, they would hire some good mediators to help out, for the children's sakes.

I think he is childish... He needs to deal with his parenting issues with his ex-wife and nobody else. Why punish the ped. office? I don't think it was them that made the final decision... I think he sets a poor example for those girls anyway...

I agree with Danielle. What does paying it in nickels really accomplish?

...Oh that's right -- that it'll get in the 'bloids.

If this man had any interest in what was best for his children, he would have quietly paid the bill instead of putting them in the tabloids once again. He should have taken the issue to either their Mother or the court.

What he did is childish. What his ex did is also childish. They need to come to an agreement over this stuff. And she shouldn't expect him to pay for something he doesn't agree with for his own children. If she wanted them vaccinated, then she needs to cover the bill 100%.

Sometimes, I think children have more sense than their parents at times. Especially when it comes to parents that have messy divorces/breakups.

From what I remember, Charlie has been going to the green our shots & autism stuff that Jenny & Jim Carey are hosting.

I looked up Jenny.. found this page - if you go 1/2 way down..

Many people aren't aware that in the 1980s our children received only 10 vaccines by age 5, whereas today they are given 36 immunizations, most of them by age 2. With billions of pharmaceutical dollars, could it be possible that the vaccine program is becoming more of a profit engine then a means of prevention?
We believe autism is an environmental illness. Vaccines are not the only environmental trigger, but we do think they play a major role. If we are going to solve this problem and finally start to reverse the rate of autism, we need to consider changing the vaccine schedule, reducing the number of shots given and removing certain ingredients that could be toxic to some children.

We take into account that some children have reactions to medicines like penicillin, for example, yet when it comes to vaccines we are operating as if our kids have a universal tolerance for them. We are acting like ONE SIZE FITS ALL. That is, at the very least, a huge improbability.

Even if the CDC is not convinced of a link between vaccines and autism, changing the vaccine schedule should be seriously considered as a precautionary measure. (If you would like to see some ideas for alternative schedules, check out Autism research, treatment, recovery and prevention.)
I have 2 kids, 8 years apart in age. My son was born in 1985 with my daughter born in 1993. I have a nephew that is 2 years older then my daughter, and a friend that has a son the same age as my daughter.

Both boys (friends son & nephew) were normal little boys that used to jump around & bounce off of the walls. Both used to eat anything they were given. At one point I moved and was away from the friend & her son and pretty much the same time I think my sister stopped speaking to me. Next thing I know my nephew is being diagnosed with autism, then eventually so was my friends son.

You wonder how it just happens like that. Kind of over night. My sister always said she thought it was related to vaccinations, although it is possible it runs in the family. With my friend it is possible her hubby has autism or some form of it although he's never been tested. I do feel it is possible that something in the vaccination triggered a reaction in their bodies causing the autism gene to "wake up"

IMO, parents today are smart to want greener vaccinations and to question what shots a child is getting. FWIW, I waited until my daughter was older for the chicken pox vaccine, unsure of whether my nephew or friends son had it. To me, chicken pox wasn't life threatening and I knew nothing about long term affects of the vaccination. I feel the same way about dental fillings and hope that using mercury fillings are a thing of the past, especially for kids.

Back to Charlie & Denise.. Denise needs to cut the crud. If Charlie has a problem with the vaccinations, then they need to find a middle ground.

I waited on the chicken pox vaccine ... purely for the reason that I feel that chicken pox is a right of passage. Then again, I grew up when all the moms would have chicken pox parties at the home of the affected child .... sigh, the "good" old days eh?

I have 3 kids, 8, 6 & 3 ... all were vaccinated when our pediatrician suggested, again, with the exception of the chicken pox vaccine, which I waited until right before they started school.

There is so much controversey swirling around austism's link to vaccines. It could be it's own thread, but yea, Charlie's method of showing Denise is about as mature as her show. They are both idiots and I feel sorry for their children.

Agreed! I don't have kids so i can't imagine how hard it must be to make decisions every day that you worry will affect your child's future, but the childishness with which he handled the situation is straight up appalling!
