Default Should "The Donald" (Trump) bail out Ed McMahon?

Why should someone who made millions like Ed McMahon get bailed out by a fellow millionaire Donald Trump? Ed McMahon made millions in his life and his financial plan expected that he would still be earning big bucks at age 85?

Think of all the other people who deserved it more. What do you think?

I think it's weird, but the Donald seems to love to do stuff that will get him media attention.

He's a billionaire not a millionaire. Let him bail out who he wants. Besides, it just more publicity for him

No different than if a friend asks me to spot him a few dollars for lunch. Just because they make, or have, a lot of money doesn't mean they cannot be generous.

Besides, it is his money...

He can do whatever he wants with his money. I think I recall Jack Nicholson did the same for his friend Producer Robert Evans way back when. In Evans case Nicholson did it from the heart and was helping a buddy out. Will have to look up Evans book again and see what exactly went down.

Agreed...why are there always people that feel they are entitled to have a say over what another person does with their money?
It sounds like the crux of the problem was Mrs. McMahon's spending. It was very kind of the Donald to intervene and give some comfort to the elderly Mr. McMahon, but I'm sure the prospect of some positive publicity helped make his mind up as well.

I say he can do what he wants with his $$$. I just think it's sad that it made the news.

I thought it was just me wondering, but why the heck would an 85 year old man be claiming loss of work as the reason he can't pay his mortgage ? Especially a guy who made millions and millions. Seems like financial planning wasn't his strong suit.

Update

McMahon turned down the offer and found a buyer, which I think is better for him. There was just something a little undignifying about Trumps offer to help out and being made public. I think if it was on the QT it would be ok, but Imagine being in your 80's and paying rent on the home you love and once paid a mortgage on. The old fool just didn't handle his financial planning right. Time to downsize to a condo in Palm Springs me thinks.
