Well I'm sure you would have a problem with me because I am wearing shorts and a tank top right now.

I am sure that there are bigger expenses than the staff having to turn the heat up in the White House because Michelle is wearing a sheath dress.

The issue is that people have this misguided, misdirected anger at Michelle Obama because they hate seeing her (or anyone that looks like her) in the White House and as their First Lady.

I highly doubt that we would be having this discussion had Cindy McCain been in the White House wearing a sleeveless Escada or Oscar de la Renta dress in winter!
A sleeveless dress is appropriate in the winter if the wearer has no problems with it and obviously she didn't. Many designers have sleeveless dresses and tops in their fall/winter collections so I do not see why its such a big deal.

Michelle is a beautiful woman. Some will argue that beauty has to come in one standard only but I doubt that Vouge would have her on the cover if she were "fugly" as one posted put it.

None of these same people would have bashed Barbara Bush or Laura Bush for their glaring lack of style and unattractiveness. Why is it OK to degrade Michelle?

Black women are held to a much higher standard when it comes to looks, style and beauty. We are scrutinized to the nth degree, especially by those who harbor jealousy. If you are a Black woman in the public eye (or a prominent position within a company) it is crucial to always be "on point" because there will be many who are ready and waiting to tear you down.
Oh please,

Stop playing the damn race card with everything! Enough already. If you read my post, I said that all of those first ladies were ugly and that doesn't stop because of her. I didn't call her ugly because she was black, I called her fugly because she is. Stop thinking you know everyone. Just because you equate race with everything in life doesn't mean that we all do.

Can any of us have a negative opinion of a black person on here without being called a racist? Get over yourself. Not everyone looks at life through a black and white pendelum.

FYI, She was on vogue because she is the First lady, not because she is hot. Because she is ugly as sin. Someone on here mentioned age. Saying that she looked good for 46. Well, I've seen pictures of her for years and she was ugly then and she is ugly now. Age aint got nothing to do with it.

I would feel the same if Cindy McCain wore a sleeveless dress in winter.

I hope you are warm and glad that you can afford to pay your heating bill.

I know some people have 'axes to grind' and the fashion choices of the First Lady seem to have become entangled in this but it is too draining and time consuming for me.

She is very below average in the looks department. You all can come on her and say how beautiful she is, but most of us can see for ourself. First lady or not she is by no means attractive. Fugly is the better word. It seems so many on here want to act dillusional and are quick to say that she is something she is not. I don't care if I am hated for this. Sometimes the truth just hurts. The women is just plain beat. It might sound mean. Oh well. But I am not gonna sit here and lie to you or myself claiming some women who got beat with the ugly stick one too many times is all beautiful or glamorous. Please spare me the political bullsh t!!! If someone is ugly, they are ugly. If she was good looking, I'd be the first to say, but she is not.
You sound angry, are you ok? If you don't think she is attractive fine, but don't get mad because someone else finds that she is. Different strokes for different folks.
As for me personally, no I don't think that she is gorgeous but she definitely isn't ugly.

I dont care how I sound to you or anybody else. I don't sugarcoat. I've read page after page of dellusional opinion given as fact. Talking about how she is so "hot"! Please! You can tell me a pinto is a Porsche all you want but it is still a Pinto. I realize we all have our own opinions, but if she is called hot like that is fact, then I will state she is fugly which in my mind is fact.

By the way, I did a column where I slammed celebrities. Most of whom were all white. It's funny how I wasn't called racist then. Then you tell the truth about one "black" celebrity and all of the sudden every race card comes out. It's just tiresome. It seems like many on here who are calling her "hot" are black and act like it is a personal slap to them, when I call her fugly. I am talking about one black person. That's it. And wheather you want to acknowledge it or not, everything said about Barrack or fugly is not a direct slam on black people. STOP playing the race card on every damn issue! Quit trying to take one issue and making it into another... MY god, when can people just give a damn opinion without all the race crap being thrown in? Please, spare me the "black victim" of everthing sob story.

Hopefully, as time goes on people will stop scrutinizing Michelle so harshly and let her get on with being a great First Lady...style and all!

I can't believe this thread is (A) still alive and (B) people are so worked up over it. Amuses me though, I must confess.
People have their opinions and I think you should all respect that and stop attacking each other's post.
SlickRick--you do crack me up and I,for one, appreciate your honesty. I don't find your posts to be racially offensive at all.
