I never liked her, I always found her to be very annoying, but she is humble. I saw her on TV not long ago and she was making jokes at her own expense about her plastic surgery, so at least she's a good sport about it.
Don't believe that whatsoever. Every single thing I have read, about how she treats people where she has played, has been positive.
She has her onstage persona and is outrageous, but she is good to people.
Never was a fan, but post 9/11 the country music industry did their awards in NYC to encourage/help the city and honor NYC and she won me over then.
Joan was doing the red carpet and it was a real fish out of water sort of thing at first. She won my heart because she soon became taken with how sweet the country music stars were and how polite. At first it threw her but soon she was really appreciating their manners and humbleness and how they were there to support NYC and their country.
It was a real turn around from the beginning of the red carpet toward the middle. I think she fell in love with Alan Jackson and Trace Atkins. It could not have been staged. And she defended Leanne Womack ? for that awful dress she was wearing. Surprised me.
my understanding is she was having surgery today due to a spot that was found on/in her throat last year.
Best wishes for her for a complete recovery and thoughts to her daughter,grandson and friends during this difficult time.

She is really nice. I say this as someone who has had several occasions where I interacted with her directly. She is a very sweet lady and I really hope she pulls through. She's as big of an icon (actually bigger IMO) as Robin Williams. Really hope she gets well.
