I used to read Oprah's magazine when it first came out but, over time, I found it to be predictable and haven't bought it in quite some time. Actually, I don't really buy magazines at all anymore. The prices are outrageous! I read what I can standing in the grocery line or I 'borrow' magazines from the shelf at lunchtime then return them. (I work at Walmart).

She's no Icon or Legend....She is a very lucky fat lady who struck gold at the right time. Let's not get dellusional about what she is. I would never look up to her or want to be like her. She is a joke. A punch line at best. "Icon",....."Legend"...you cant be serious!!

What celebrity cover ISN'T airbrushed these days? She isn't everyones standard of beauty but she isn't a dog. I think I have seen other celebs on her mag cover every so often...am I wrong? Plus if her fans love it (and I'm sure they do) then she is making all the right choices.

Her weight struggles also make her more relatable than a size 0 celebrity to much of middle America.

Most of the celebs do look average or ordinary without makeup. Kudos to O for marketing genius that translates into billions. Somebody likes it!

Oprah has done very well for herself and some of her guests are very interesting people.

I don't mind her one bit. Her TV show, her mag, her life make no difference to me.

She is truly a self made woman and I admire almost anyone who can pull that off.

The thing is that I can change the channel and not read the mag. No big deal.

I've never had a problem with Oprah. I never paid much attention to her show and never considered her as an attractive woman. I barely notice magazines with her picture on the cover.

Whatever Oprah is, whether attractive or not, she has become a very wealthy black woman and found her niche. We should all be so lucky. Kudos to her for finding that path to independent wealth.

I haven't read every post, so sorry if I'm repeating. I will watch Oprah if the topic is interesting to me, but I'm getting pretty sick of her. I don't understand why she herself is on the cover of EVERY SINGLE issue of her magazine. I don't know of another mag that has the same person on it all the time. She seems VERY self centered. There was an interesting article about her in Newsweek a couple weeks back. It is a very interesting perspective on the way certain topics have been presented on her show.

It's not just that she's vein as hell. I think her show sucks. It used to be ok years ago. Now it just plain sucks. It's for middle age housewives. She has perfectly managed to alienate males from her stupid show. Now her shows are about making the perfect dessert, how to color you hair, what outfit is the best color for fall, etc. She doesn't talk about anything important at all. Her show is nothing but fluff. Garbage. She sold out and became a house wife cook, clothes wearing show...Yuck. GO away and eat your twinkies somewhere else. Her show seems catered to rich people and their rich habits....Please. Get back to reality. OPY. There are alot of us out there who don't care to make fifty dollar desserts, nor want too. HOw about some real issues....

I didn't read the whole thread, so I hope I'm not repeating anything.

I think Oprah has made a name for herself and found her niche, which is great. I know all celebrities are airbrushed, so that doesn't bother me. I only watch the shows that have Dr. Oz (when he used to be on before he got his own show) and Suze Orman. I don't care about the celebrity shows or the spiritual shows. And her favorite things show is just to see how crazy she can make people (I can't afford any of that stuff and won't buy it). What bothers me is that Holier-than-thou attitude she seems to exude nowadays.
