Jolie dethrones Winfrey atop Celebrity 100 - Celebrities- msnbc.com

I don't understand this. Everytime I see Jolie in an interview she's gushing about Motherhood being her best ever role and its the greatest and how she's going to not work so much blah blah blah. So she made 3 movies, made 27 million and is in the press' eye enough to rank #1.
What a load of cr**.
There are plent of stars who virtually disappeared when they went off to raise their maybe TWO kids. She has SIX and despite all the lip service is working as much as ever. Hey Jolie, if you want to keep working just admit it. And give some of your money to mothers who'd love to be SAHM's and can't afford it.

I don't see a problem with the article. You seem to have some not-so-buried resentment towards people having kids, based on your posts on this and Mel Gibson.

At least Jolie's responsible enough to WORK to support her kids, much better than Octomom, let me tell you. Although even octomom, no matter how much I disagree with her tactics to make money, is milking all the attention she could grab to also support her kids.

So what's it to you?

I don't like the hypocrisy and low level exploitation of motherhood to serve her public image.
I don't have a problem with people having kids for the right reasons and being good parents (maybe your hypersensitive?).
Jolie doesn't have to work to support her kids, she has tons of money and that's my point that you
totally missed.

She donates tons of money to charity. Are you saying just because she is a mom she must help out other mothers?

The article isn't about the hardest working celebrity. Part of the reason she is so 'powerful' is her star caliber. People whether or not they are fans want to know more about her and her lifestyle. The magazines that feature either her, Brad or the kids are the best selling magazines out the whole year.

She has stated that she and Brad stagger their projects so someone always is home with the children. Both of them are photographed constantly with the kids so it looks like more than just lip service to me.

I read the article but not sure what the criteria for "powerful" was (as defined by the list). Is it because she's a "hard-working" mom?

As far as celebs being "hard-working" moms, well, it's probably somewhat easy when you have an army of nannies, cooks, chauffeurs, housekeeping, personal trainers AND makeup and wardrobe folks swarming about. Not to mention the toadies who just swarm about for no good reason. And then there are the companiesthat giving the celeb stuff in the hopes they'll be photographed using it.

Let them try it on $40k a year with a mortgage, car payment and a few credit cards nipping at them.

Yes, I totally missed your point because you don't seem to have one. You quoted an article that lists Jolie as the most powerful celebrity, de-throning Oprah. I'm assuming the article refers to her clout in entertainment industry, which has nothing to do with whatever it is you're ranting about.

So again, what's it to you?

I am not a Jolie fan in any way, shape, or form. She's not even a very good actress in most of her movies.

I suspect that she made "The List" based on how many times People magazine has plastered her face on their covers (along with Brittany Spears for the longest time; it's all why I stopped purchasing it). Unlike a comment posted on here, I want to know nothing more about the "Brangelinas".

It's all politics, nothing more.

ditto on all you said.

Won't be long until we're reading about division of children/property/and how they are fighting it out through lawyers (she and Pitt).....mark my words. It's almost OvEr for them.

Michelle Obama fascinates me. She didn't grow up with a sense of entitlement, and she overcame more adversity than Jolie could ever imagine to get where she is.

Jolie is nothing. I'd much rather have dinner with Michelle. Jolie I wouldn't go across the street to see.
