Denzel Washington, without question. I believe the check he wrote was for over $1M of his own money. And he didn't even have his publicist with him. Not much press on that one.

A couple months ago Denzel was watching the local news here in Albuquerque and saw that the Boys and Girls Club in Roswell,NM didnt have enough money to keep it running so the next day he gave them enough money to keep it open all summer. |

I've heard whispers that Denzel is a philanderer, but I guess only his wife needs to deal with that if it is true. He seems down to earth.
I would add Angelina Jolie and Sir Richard Branson to the list. There are more, but they escape me at the moment.
