As for abused kids still loving the abuser--there is some truth to that. But MJ went out of his way not to look like his father, not to be like his father...even so much as not even mentioning him in his will.
Yes but he left a good portion to the "family" trust with Katherine to be at the helm. Wouldn't Joe still have some access, if only through his influence over Katherine? Joe and Katherine are still married and although they don't live with each other every day, I would guess still have a relationship.

Both Joe and Katherine showed up at Jacksons trial. It wasn't like Michael had disowned his dad. If you watch the Brashir interview he talks honestly about the abuse but also talks about his dad in some postive light as well.

Just thinking outloud here Tex.

I think Katherine stood up to him long ago.
It's not a marriage of "convenience" - they just don't believe in divorce so they have led separate lives in different states for years. Michael knew who he could count on in life - his mom, only.

Joe J said "We love those kids, we want to raise them, they're part of our family..." - I believe Al Sharpton was right there - he opened his mouth and put his foot in - sounds like he has every intention of being in the kids' lives. Katherine is also up there in years to take on 3 young children, even w/ help, someone has to be in control and at 79, it may be tough. I don't know what (or who) the answer is, I just feel for the kids and it get sorted out quick.

How do you open your foot? Is that something anyone can learn? And why would you want to put your mouth in your foot?

I know what you meant, I just had to give you a hard time. Please don't beat me!

OK so "convenience" isn't a great choice of words...whatever...they still do not live together and haven't for years.

I am going to have to watch that interview again. I remember seeing it and thinking "Michael...what are you saying?" He cast himself in a poor light also if I remember correctly.

I have a feeling he will be moving back in with Katherine. I seem to remember, and this could be rumor, there were mumblings going around that Michael told his mom she had to put Joe out or Mike would cut her off, because MJ didn't want Joe to benefit from his money in any way. Again, that could be (and probably is) rumor, but something I remember hearing.

This is off-topic, but I have to ask. What was up with Jermaine saying he wished is was him who died instead of MJ? I think I understand what he meant, but I didn't understand why he would say it. And were he and Michael close?

Heard that too (about Jermaine) but I dont know if they were close.

Just read this - regardless of the will, apparently Debbie Rowe wants her kids (and would take the youngest too, if possible, although it may not be realistic)

Debbie Rowe: "I Want My Children" | NBC Los Angeles

From what I heard, she may have a good chance of getting them.
