If I was a drug dealer I would try to find as many rich people as I could and get them strung out, you give them freebies for a year or two and then you 'er home free , nothing like a rich drug addict for a pusher's bottom line.
I dont know what its like in the Douglas household, but what a sad story. Wasted potential on many fronts.
Why not just start a new life in the bahamas or something if you hate your life. Or start a charity, or do something. I know people from well to do backgrounds, but they didnt all end up complete losers. Having the Douglas/Zeta Jones life and assets, and losing it to life in prison over drug sales....that's just sad.
Oprah had a segment a long time ago about growing rich. Filmed by the son of the Johnson and Johnson fortune. He interviewed all these 20 something rich kids. The billionaire son of the Conde Nast publisher. Things like that. One of the kids stuck out. He had to work on an oil rig.
He commented about having to do "real work". It was sort of sad in a way. He found a new lease on life by learning what it was like to work. Have to get out of the bubble.
Also, there are other actors kids, you never hear anything about. Like Will Smith, or Tom Cruise's son. Or Tom Hanks. They dont all go to jail just because dad is away all the time.

I believe the groundwork for this young man's problems was laid during his father's childhood/youth. I think Kirk and Michael have resolved their issues but I think there were some parenting errors.
There are times that I think/feel that those who prefer drugs should just do the rest of us a favor and consume to their hearts content and if they overdose then that is the choice they made.
Why is it that people who have every single advantage in life turn out badly? He could have done anything with his life.
He and other rich kids would be interesting to see why they make these poor choices when they have every opportunity to make good ones.
I don't buy, lack of parenting, even if his dad was gone alot doing movies, many poor children grow up with parents who are working 2 or 3 jobs, and turn out okay.
Is being rich a curse for a kid? Too much excess? Too much of everytihng?
I doubt he will go to prison for a long time. Money seems to buy anything these days.
Drug pushers should pay taxes on their sales, then the government in the states will be rich and no one who works for a living will have to pay taxes, or for medical care etc. Think about it. Charge 500% tax on all drugs brought into the country then add another 500% to what is sold. Then the govenrment will never have to worry about paying their employee's and where the next dollar will come from. Just a thought!
Since is it against the law at the moment I hope Michael Douglas son gets life, he chose to sell no one held a gun at his head and forced him. I don't feel one single little bit sorry for a drug pusher they destroy our children's lives.

That project has made me stay away from anyone that even used meth. A lot of people use that you would not think do. Hilter shot up meth everyday...You have to wonder how his life may of been different if he did not do that...
I think anyone who uses like that has some huge void they try to fill. And making money like you can with selling that crap...I think that could be more addictive than the drug itself. Being sober can only suck sometimes I would think..But to go from making thousands of dollars in a day to waiting a whole month or more for it...
I hope he does not get away with it because of the damage meth can really do. Its a sick drug.

Rich or Poor, we dont know what goes on behind closed doors. Still, its hard to garner up any pity for some of these celebrity youth.

There is plenty of FYI on the life of Michael Douglas. I believe his famous father wrote a book, 'The Ragpicker's Son', or something like that. There are probably several books about Michael Douglas, too. They were wealthy, Michael attended boarding school, his mother was a socialite, Michael had a rebellious streak and then achieved great success as an actor and a producer. His son seemingly shares some of Dad's characteristics but has not focused on career goals--or perhaps his career goal was to lead his life without mundane responsibilities.
