I learned this just a while ago while watching CNN news.
I knew that she had been battling leukemia the last several years. If memory serves, she had a bone marrow transplant and thought it to be a success.
Peter, Paul, and Mary was basically the main and the lead vehicle driving the hootenanny folk movement. I was only 12 or so when the movement started to gain steam. Puff (The magic Dragon), In The Wind, 500 miles, Lemon Tree, If I had A Hammer; such great songs!
I might have to look this one up, but if memory serves, before the Beatles and the rest of the British Invasion turned popular and pop/rock music on it's ear, Peter, Paul, and Mary was really cranking out some lp's. In fact, they either had two or three albums in the top end of the billboard charts, I'm thinking around the summer of 1963.
She will be missed. RIP, Mary.

My favorite was "Cruel War" and "Where Have All the Flowers Gone". They went on to do alot for children as I remember.

Aaaah- how very sad. I've loved her voice for decades. I'm so grateful we had the opportunity to see PP&M in concert twice in the past decade; the voices were deeper and less limber than they were back in the day, but they blended and harmonized as beautifully as ever.
May she rest in peace, and may her music and life's work carry on for many decades to come.

You are right about that. I also just heard this story. I was not aware she was sick though.
Man we are losing a lot of great ones lately it seems.
